Cenote Meets Canopy

An exotic, magical, bohemian luxury destination in the heart of Tulum. Nestled in the thick, lush green of the ancient Mayan jungle, this five-star resort and spa is a base camp for rejuvenation and adventure. Its buildings gather in circles around hidden courtyards, like cenotes opening in the forest floor, where cascading waterfalls and cooling pools mimic the spiritually mystical cenotes of the Maya. Floating above the jungle treetops, restaurants, bars, and chill-out decks offer privileged views toward the turquoise waters of the Riviera. This is yūgō: a bohemian sanctuary where water, wood, and jungle become one.

Approach
01

Nature

The jungle is not cleared around the resort; it is drawn into it. Circular buildings wrap around planted courtyards, woven wooden screens filter the tropical sun, and climbing vegetation grows up the façades until architecture and canopy are hard to tell apart.

Nature
02

Culture

Tulum’s bohemian spirit—laid back, handmade, close to nature—shapes every space. Natural materials of water, wood, and stone, woven textures, and places for yoga and meditation create an adults-only retreat for rest and renewal in the peaceful solitude of the Mayan world.

Culture
03

History

For the Maya, cenotes were sacred wells and portals to the underworld. The resort’s circular courtyards, cenote-style pools, and waterfalls reinterpret that mystical geography, and thatched domes recall the palapa roofs that have sheltered life on the peninsula for centuries.

Architectural Design Philosophy

Circular buildings enclose a sequence of peaceful courtyards, each conceived as a cenote: a protected world of water and vegetation hidden within the jungle. Wrapped in woven wooden screens, the rings read less as buildings than as vessels holding the forest.

Signature Design Features

Cenote Courtyards: Cascading waterfalls and cooling pools create a natural playground at the heart of every ring.

Woven Façades: Layers of wooden screens and climbing plants shade the rooms and glow like lanterns at night.

Above the Canopy: A rooftop lounge with a swim-up bar and fire pit, and dining terraces floating above the treetops, open privileged views of the jungle.

Spa-Like Suites: Bathrooms with rock elements and soaking tubs bring the cenote experience into every suite.

Environmental Integration

“Welcome to Secrets Tulum, a luxury bohemian destination in the magical Mayan world.”
